Jean Sébastien Lord's practice includes international trade and investment matters. He has advised on a wide range of issues related to WTO agreements, including antidumping duties, trade in services as well as subsidies and countervailing measures. Mr. Lord also has a solid experience in the field of import and export controls. |
| Mr. Lord obtained an LL.B. from the Université Laval in 1996 and was called to the Quebec Bar Association the following year.
He is currently completing a master's degree in international relations, specializing in international trade law, at the Institut québécois des hautes études internationales of the Université Laval. Within this multidisciplinary program, he pursued studies in economics, in political science, as well as in public and international trade law. This education ensures him a comprehensive understanding of the issues raised in a file. He undertook to write his masters essay on one of the four Singapore issues, namely the interaction between trade and competition policy.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lord practiced in civil and commercial litigation in domestic law within a private law firm in Quebec City where he notably benefited from the teachings of a former associate chief Justice of the Superior Court of Quebec. While within this firm, he provided legal opinions, wrote proceedings and briefs, negotiated settlements and argued in courts. |
